The idea of doing business with our NAWBO sisters is wonderful. But in reality, there are some members with whom we will be unable to do business directly. For example, I sell group health insurance, so if you do not have employees, you are not a good fit to work with me and my company, Moore Benefits. This situation happens often. Here’s another example: I already have a financial planner, an accountant, and an attorney that I work with and trust, yet I know so many other great ones in our membership.
How can I help my friends grow their businesses? The answers are referrals and social media promotion.
Do you realize the promotional value of comments made on your friends’ LinkedIn and Facebook pages, Yelp, and their actual websites? Business owners, are you asking for these referrals and do you have a guest book on your website?

People frequently refer to me as ‘The Connector’ because I know so many people and I am great at connecting business owners. When you meet someone, don’t just collect a card. Learn what the person does and how you can help that business grow.
