Costa Mesa, Calif., May 15, 2014 – The National Association of Women Business Owners—Orange County (NAWBO-OC), the premier organization for Orange County women business owners, today announced that Member of the Year and former NAWBO-OC President, Loreen Gilbert, will serve a two-year term as a member-at-large on the NAWBO national board of directors beginning July 1, 2014.

Loreen GilbertMs. Gilbert, President and founder of WealthWise Financial Services in Irvine, California, has been a member of the Orange County chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners for six years and a board member for five of those years. She first served as Vice President, Member Services, for two years, then went on to serve as President-Elect, President, and currently as Immediate Past President. In addition, she is a current NAWBO California board member, ending her one-year term on July 7 of this year. As a national board member, Ms. Gilbert will continue as an active member of NAWBO-OC.

Serving on the NAWBO national board of directors will provide Ms. Gilbert with an opportunity to further her advocacy for women business owners, elevating her influence to a national level. Passionate about the opportunities and struggles affecting women in general and women business owners in particular, Ms. Gilbert plans to utilize her time in Washington, D.C. to influence policymakers. Issues including funding and access to capital, healthcare, as well as government contracting and sourcing for women business owners are at the top of her agenda.

“As a woman business owner, I understand the unique challenges women business owners face on a daily basis when it comes to launching and growing their businesses,” said Ms. Gilbert. “A recent study revealed that only two percent of all women-owned businesses report revenues exceeding $1 million – less than half the national average. Just as women have been closing the gap in terms of earnings, it is time to close the gap of women business owners with regards to business revenues. Helping women to be financially independent is my passion and I will use my influence as a NAWBO national board member to remove obstacles and increase opportunities for women business owners. I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the 8.6 million women business owners including all NAWBO members at a national level.”
“We are honored to have one of our most highly respected and esteemed Orange County members be selected for the NAWBO national board of directors,” stated Laura Neubauer, current NAWBO-OC President. “There is no doubt in my mind that Ms. Gilbert will be a tremendous motivator and change agent for America’s women business owners.”

As part of her responsibilities as a national board member, Ms. Gilbert will work with local and state chapters to define and coordinate a united vision and direction for NAWBO members at all levels.

Loreen Gilbert is a registered representative with and securities offered through LPL Financial, Member FINRA/SIPC.
