NAWBO-OC Needs YOU!

"Jumping into committee work helped me to get to know my fellow NAWBO members quickly! This exposure allowed me to find vendors that I needed and get referrals for my moving and storage business. When my company or a business associate needs some type of service or product, I always go to the NAWBO roster first." —Dee Putman-Elliot, King Relocation Services

Open Committee Chair Positions
If you want to get involved with NAWBO on a deeper level consider joining our dynamic board of directors! Committee chair positions generally require about 4-10 hours per month. Board meetings, which take place at 4pm on the day of the dinner meeting, are optional for committee chairs. See list of open board positions.

Committees that need YOUR help
Committees are the ideal place to get your feet wet. Time requirements vary greatly and are generally very flexible. The "work" on our committees is fun, as well as productive; and the relationships developed are priceless.

AFFILIATES - The Affiliates Committee builds relationships with our existing and prospective Affiliated Organizations and is very involved with those that participate in our Remarkable Women Awards. Contact Marcia Evans 714-824-3071 or Zeena Dhalla 949-852-8655 or click here for more info about our affiliates.

COMMUNICATIONS - Liz Schmidt has been editing and producing the newsletter and website for many years. She would really like to share this responsibility with a Newsletter Editor who could collect and edit the news. Other volunteer opportunities are also available, and the workload is flexible. Benefits to working on this committee include getting to know other members, skill development, and gaining visibility for your business. Contact Liz Schmidt 949-297-3630 for more info.

CORPORATE PARTNERS/COMMUNITY MEMBERS - Our committee's goal is to increase participation of corporations and community organizations with NAWBO-OC. Members on this committee contact corporate and community organizations, thereby providing increased visibility not only to NAWBO, but also to the individual committee member and her business. In addition, committee members have the opportunity to get better acquainted with other NAWBO members. Hope to see you on the Corporate/Community sponsor committee! Contact Cara Good 714-862-1112 x202.

EDUCATION - The Education committee is the newest addition to NAWBO-OC. We provide educational programs and resources that support the business growth and profitability of NAWBO-OC members. Our committee members work together to provide classes, workshops, resources and 'Success Teams' that will enhance our members' business knowledge and management effectiveness. We are now looking for creative people to help with our marketing efforts. Please contact Markell Steele 877-210-3252 if you would like more information.

MARKETING - Improves NAWBO-OC's visibility with women business owners, other organizations throughout the community, and provides marketing support to all NAWBO committees. If you want to utilize your writing, marketing, or graphic design skills to help NAWBO grow, contact Hilary Kaye 714-426-0444 x201.

MEMBERSHIP – Joining one the membership committees is the BEST way to get to know other members! Recruitment Committee, make 10 to 15 calls each month to our dinner meeting guests to thank them for their interest in NAWBO, to get feedback and to answer any questions. Retention Committee, help coordinate New Member Orientations, organize our Member Appreciation Awards or make 10-15 calls each quarter to members. Hospitality Committee, greet and welcome new members and guests at our dinner meetings, help them feel welcome and introduce them to other members. Contact Kimberly Gerber 949-679-9235 to join in the fun.

MENTORING - A Mentoring Program is made available to NAWBO members through our membership committee. If you are interested in serving on the Mentoring Committee, please contact Dee Putman-Elliott, Mentoring Director, at 714-745-5491.

PROGRAMS - The program committee plans and coordinates our monthly meetings. Our goal is to deliver high quality inspirational monthly meetings that provide value to our members and the business community. The speakers and events are planned for 2007-08. Areas where help is needed include: selling raffle tickets and facilitating dinner table discussions. This is a great way to meet other members and become more involved in NAWBO-OC. If you are interested in helping out on this important and fun committee, please contact Linda Casso or Miley Waterman 888-886-3462.

PUBLIC POLICY - Members of this committee will help each member identify their government representatives. Then we help set up appointments for our members, as well as send letters to legislators. The time involved is 2-3 hours per month—mostly phone and email work. In addition to developing political influence, committee members have a great opportunity to get to know members, what they do, and where their businesses are located. We have great support from both NAWBO-California and National. Contact Shaila Mistry 951-738-2000.

REMARKABLE WOMEN AWARDS - Build relationships with other members, community, business, and/or political leaders that provide you visibility and business opportunities. RW Committee work can take from minutes to several hours a month; you can choose the time commitment that works for you. For information contact Michelle Beauchamp 949-240-1552.

TECHNOLOGY - If you have a passion for computers, information systems and the delivery of technology through innovative solutions, please consider joining NAWBO-OC's tech team! The goal of this committee is to ensure that NAWBO-OC is delivering the best possible services to the membership by using technology to provide an experience geared for the non-technical person. Our chapter is currently undertaking a full scale implementation of an association management software system and volunteers are needed to participate in the learning, testing and membership roll out. Please contact Vicki Tortorelli 951-698-8109 x202.

If you are interested in working on a committee that is not listed above, please contact its chair or director, shown on the board page.
