Working Wardrobes: Helping Adults in Crisis Re-Enter the Workforce…in Style!

Working Wardrobes is dedicated to providing a path for men, women and at-risk youth to achieve self-sufficiency. Since 1990, Working Wardrobes has served more than 30,000 adults experiencing a variety of life crises including homelessness, catastrophic illness, alcohol and substance abuse, and traumatic financial losses.

Each year, an estimated 3,500 clients—Cal Works recipients, clients of social service agencies, and adults in 70 shelters or programs in Orange County, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire—receive services from Working Wardrobes’ Career Services Center and through annual men’s and women’s Days of Self Esteem. In order to provide clients with the highest quality service, Working Wardrobes welcomes more than 1,500 volunteers each year in addition to a small corps of dedicated staff.

Representing one of the most significant changes the organization has seen, Working Wardrobes will begin construction on a Career Development Center in December of 2006. The Center will make it possible for Working Wardrobes to take our clients’ employment search to the next level, featuring a career developer for one-on-one consultations, employment opportunities with corporate partners, internet access for job searches, resume development tools, and a resource library.

While we are so proud of all that has been accomplished, the need is still great and there is much work to be done! In addition to the ongoing need for financial support, Working Wardrobes welcomes donations of your clothing and/or volunteer time.

Following are a few of the many great ways you can become involved:

  • Host a clothing drive with your company, church or collect among friends.
  • Become a Corporate/Civic Advocate
  • Organize a fundraiser to benefit Working Wardrobes.
  • Volunteer your time in the office or in support of one of our annual events.
  • Join the Designing Women’s Guild.
