THANK
YOU!
Thank
you to Dr.
Susan Murphy for
her wonderful presentation at the November meeting on "Working
with Women." We
learned about the dead-even model and how women can create better
relationships if we understand
this concept. She also helped us understand how women
connect on three levels: relationships, self-esteem
and power.
Margaret Mead said "Never doubt that a small group of
committed individuals can change the world. In fact, that all
that ever has." NAWBO-OC and its members have the chance
to change the world. Also, thank
you to those who donated prizes for the opportunity drawing:

EDUCATION CENTER CLASSES
(click titles to register

Building
a Team Environment (Nov 14, 8-11am) Instructor:
Camille Jayne, Matters at Hand. Do you know the recipe
for a successful team to get the results you want?
Do you know how to put together the right team?
Do you know how to get the best out of that team?
What are the important ground rules? Don’t know the
answers? You need this Team Dynamics Class! In this 3 hour
class you will learn how to put together the right team,
determine the roles and responsibilities of different
team members, and how to manage the team to deliver the desired
goals on time and on budget. The class focuses on team processes
that help you to have productive meetings including: various
decision making methods and outcomes, designing effective work
plans, team meeting skills and behaviors, how to work through
group issues, and learning how to give and receive constructive
feedback.
Establishing
a Culture of Excellence (Nov 9, 8-11am)

Potential. No matter what size your company, establishing
a culture of excellence is critical to your success. This

How
To Recruit and Retain High Quality Employees (Nov
8, 6-9pm) Instructor: Eric Caesar, ECG Consulting.
Learn how to develop compelling job descriptions that not
only aptly describe the responsibilities of the position
but target the types of candidates you hope to attract. Learn
the most effective ways to market your opportunities and
how to become a better interviewer. Lastly, we will look
at retention strategies and why some employees stay while
others move on prematurely.
Let
Go to Grow: Stop Doing and Start Leading (Nov
16, 3-6pm) Instructor: Joan Friedlander, Lifework Business
Partners. Entrepreneurs and professionals who fail to let go
of some of the day-to-day operations of running their business
and delivering services spend HOURS on activities and projects
that drain their energy. They run the risk of losing their
creative edge; they can become frustrated and burned out. By
hanging onto tasks, people and projects that no longer fit,
they hinder their ability to grow, both personally and professionally.
We'll
tackle the most common barriers to letting go: perfectionism,
lack of trust and guilt. We’ll cause the paradigm shift
required to successfully lead people after years of doing things
yourself.
We’ll review 3 different strategies for growth through
leadership: delegation, duplication and automation. You’ll
leave the workshop with an executable start-up plan for transitioning
from doing to leading.
There will be no Education Center
classes in December. Join us in January 2007 for the Business Planning
track!
