On
October 3rd, Susan's Healthy Gourmet will
be starting a new program—Susan’s Healthy Kids & Families.
They will offer healthy "Backpack Lunches" as well
as "Busy Bee Dinners" for kids, aimed at helping
moms and dads ensure that their kids have access to healthy
meals, in particular, alternatives to school lunches and
fast food dinners.
Susan
Medwied has been selected as a participant
in the City of Rancho Santa Margarita's inaugural
Citizen's Academy, a seven week community and
leadership development program designed to heighten
citizen awareness and create better informed
citizens who will promote a positive outlook
regarding the City and community as a whole. In
2001, Helane Cohen started Le Petit Cookery,
Inc. to offer "hands-on" kids' cooking parties,
classes and after school programs. In 2003 the company launched
an online store www.kidsaprons.com after
discovering there was a need for kids' chef hats, aprons
and cooking products. Le Petit Cookery has enjoyed so much
success that it has now moved to a 2200 square food corporate
office which also includes a warehouse.
 NAWBO-OC
members Susan Johnson, owner of Susan's
Healthy Gourmet, and Jenny
Rosoff, owner of Village Green Foods, spoke
on the Women
in Cuisine panel
at
the Orange County Conference for Women on September 14.
Shaila
Mistry was
invited to be an official delegate to the United Nations
in Geneva, Switzerland,
for the 2005 World Summit on Information Systems.
191 countries will participate, and Shaila will represent 78
of them. She sees her purpose as "educating and influencing
decision makers globally to bring better accessibility
and distribution
to the populations of have-nots ... This may cross the paradigms
of north and south, east and west, male and female, and even
the great divide of age."
Shaila was also
selected by the Policy Institute in Sacramento to
write some bills to put through the house, and she will
be working with a small team for the next year on this project.
The purpose of
the
institute is to influence public policy, and in the process
train high
profile individuals for future political involvement.
