MEMBERS IN THE NEWS
Helane Cohen's Le Petit Cookery, Inc. was featured on the front page of the Orange County Register's Local Section on Sunday, April 17, 2005. Le Petit Cookery, Inc. hosted a cooking class for the Register's "Healthy Kids Ambassadors" to support a 4-month program that the newspaper is running to promote healthy living among kids.

Ellen Breymann, member of NAWBO-OC and owner of Mars Office Services, was interviewed on the KTLA, Channel 5 News, on May 4. KTLA televised live at Disneyland Park in celebration of its “Happiest Homecoming On Earth” 50th anniversary. Ellen was interviewed as a small business owner of a company that has served the Anaheim area (and other parts of OC) for 42 years.

Judi Fouladi, Esq. serves as NAWBO-OC's Legal Counsel. Miss Fouladi has been a licensed California attorney for 20 years, having had practices in both the public and private sectors. She is the president and CEO of HydroTechnologies, Inc., a manufacturer of industrial grade cleaning machines and equipment for hard surface flooring. She assists and advises the NAWBO-OC Board on legal and parliamentary issues, and is the 2005 co-chair for NAWBO's Remarkable Women Awards luncheon.

Western Region Business Matchmaking Event in LA on June 7-8
Combining education, training, networking and face-to-face procurement meetings between buyers and sellers... Business Matchmaking regional face-to-face events bring together over 1,000 small business owners and managers with procurement representatives from federal, state and local governments as well as major corporations. The events are free to attend for both buyers and sellers and include an "Introduction to Business Matchmaking Workshop" featuring presentations from small business experts, the SBA, SCORE, SBDC and procurement representatives. Public Policy: 2005 Public Policy Days Report

April 22, 2005 - Public Policy days in Sacramento this week was an amazing experience. At the guest speaker sessions I had the opportunity to ask Mr. Poochegian, the author of the Workers' Compensation bill, some core questions on improving the philosophy underlying the business environment and workplace ethics. I also asked Director Henning, of the Employment Development Department, to describe the strategies used to ensure fraudulent applications for unemployment are weeded out.

Mentoring: The Mentoring Program will have a mid-term meeting on Thursday, May 5th to discuss best practices and mentoring techniques. Any questions call Dee Elliott at 714-813-7190.
